Changes to the underlying Aberdeen funds

We have been notified by Aberdeen Global (the “Company”) on the 06 September 2016 of changes to the underlying funds into which the following Friends Provident International funds invest.

P65 Aberdeen Global Asia Pacific Equity 

P33 Aberdeen Global Chinese Equity 

R11 Aberdeen Global Emerging Markets Smaller Companies

The Company has advised that under the “Fund Information” section of the underlying fund’s prospectus, it has been clarified so that the funds may invest directly or indirectly no more than 10% of their Net Asset Value in Mainland China securities (including through QFII, RQFII, the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect programme, participatory notes, equity linked notes and any other eligible means). 

To reflect this change the Hong Kong additional country specific restrictions under Appendix A of the underlying fund’s prospectus have been updated accordingly. Furthermore the General Risk Factors have been updated in respect of the risk factors concerning investing in China, specifically to include risks relating to Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect. 

All other details of the underlying funds and the Friends Provident International funds remain unchanged.
